enersis: from a two-day workshop to cohorts across the company

An energy-software company in the EnBW group trained its engineers, then ran the programme across engineering, HR and operations.

“He built a small chatbot for himself to discuss those specs. This was the spark that lit the fire. This chatbot is now part of our product, and we are MVP-ing it for our customers.”
Florian Wolf, CTO & Managing Director, enersis

Situation

enersis is an energy-software company and a wholly owned subsidiary of EnBW. Asked how AI adoption across the company looked before the programme, its solutions architect answered "Really hard to non-existent."

What we did

  1. 1

2026: in-person workshops in Berlin and Bern, two and three days long.

  2. 2

Three facilitated cohorts of ten weekly sessions each, with assignments applied to people's own work.

  3. 3

The programme ran across engineering, HR and operations.

  4. 4

Data security was handled head-on, by anonymising data so people could use AI on real work.

In their words

Client-reported observations, quoted from the published enersis case study. They are not audited results and do not set a general performance expectation.

What changed in the business?

  • How much faster is your team shipping now?

“He sped up his development cycle by a factor of seven or so, which is totally mind-blowing.”
Florian Wolf, CTO & Managing Director, enersis
  • How did the cohort change your own workload?

“I'm delivering more with what feels like less stress and less workload, plus I have time for the side projects that bring value to the company.”
    Berkay Üner, Solutions Architect, enersis

What can non-technical people build?

  • What did you do straight after the workshop?

“I wanted to show my husband what I created, because I was very proud of myself. It brought me more self-confidence. Now the whole family calls me my little programator.”
    Veronika Sedlacekova, Office Manager, enersis
  • What stuck with you from the non-technical group?

“Our head of HR created this summary tool, someone who never touched a single line of code in their life. And that was not even at the end of the second day.”
    Berkay Üner, Solutions Architect, enersis

What about security and data?

  • Was data security the thing holding people back?

“Data security and privacy are a major blocker. We managed it by leveraging what is possible with anonymizing data, and this clicked a lot with the people.”
Florian Wolf, CTO & Managing Director, enersis
  • Which part of the workshop mattered most for your role?

“In my role I'm in touch on a daily basis with sensitive data. It would be really useful to get AI help, but I cannot share this type of data.”
    Veronika Sedlacekova, Office Manager, enersis

Was it worth the time?

  • Did it only work because it was a side project?

“We discussed that the first few weeks would be a decline in productivity, and that our ideal goal would be for the capacity of the colleagues to increase. And this is what we saw.”
Florian Wolf, CTO & Managing Director, enersis
  • Could you have achieved this without external help?

“That's an easy answer. I don't think so. We wouldn't have been able to do this by ourselves in that short time period.”
Florian Wolf, CTO & Managing Director, enersis

What the client owns now

  • An internal tool one engineer built for himself during the programme is now part of the enersis product, in MVP with customers (client-reported).
